Courtland Sutton, a 4,000-yard playmaker, is considering a holdout this month and could seek a trade. According to a source, the best receiver on the Broncos roster isn’t ruling out sitting out of training camp, which might spark trade rumours. Sutton may likely step up his attempts to get the organization to pay him sooner rather than later before committing to play on the roster this season. He was a full participant in mandatory camp this offseason, but it says nothing about his commitment.
He’s been waiting patiently for a new contract, so a holdout may force the Broncos to pay him swiftly. Sutton isn’t asking for a contract like Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, or AJ Brown, so it’s surprising the Broncos haven’t finalized anything. He wants a fair raise that reflects the production he’s been able to bring to the team as their best pass-catcher. However, he did practice on his own outside of the facility this offseason during optional OTAs while recovering from ankle surgery.
It’s hardly surprising that he’s seeking for a new contract before another injury arises. Sutton is being more charitable than other receivers seeking new contracts, such as CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk, which has some scratching their heads. When reporters ask Sutton if he plans to hold out of this training camp, he doesn’t say much, which could signal that he does. After trading Jerry Jeudy to the Browns, the Broncos should be able to extend him without trouble.
It will be intriguing to watch what the Broncos will do.

Baltimore Ravens
The wide receiving corps in Baltimore is still scratching its heads, as Zay Flowers remains the pack leader. They’re bringing in Nelson Agholor to fill the void left by Odell Beckham Jr.’s absence as a starting WR3. However, Sutton could be the answer the Ravens are seeking for as a slot receiver to supplement Rashod Bateman. Many were surprised when the Ravens signed Rashod Bateman to a new contract following a dismal 2023 season.
His output may be increased if Sutton lined up or took some reps to assist alleviate the workload. Flowers and Mark Andrews cannot be the sole consistent receivers if the Ravens expect Lamar Jackson to win his first championship.
Kansas City Chiefs
This would be a no-brainer move for the Chiefs, but the Broncos will most likely make it happen because they are competitors. However, they require a consistent No. 1 receiver, which they have not been able to find since Tyreek Hill’s departure. Rashee Rice has a lot of promise, but he is dealing with some offseason issues, so he will be missing time this season. This leaves an inexperienced Xavier Worthy and a first-year Marquise Brown to lead the way, but don’t anticipate anything extraordinary because things need to gel together to establish synergy.
