HUGE DECISION: SEC commissioner Greg Sankey Issues a Shocking Announcement On ‘Horns Down’ In-game penalty

In recent years, the official anti-Texas Longhorns gesture, “Horns Down,” has become increasingly controversial. It was also used as a penalty in some situations during Texas’ final season in the Big 12, which ended this week with the program joining the Southeastern Conference. In case you missed it, historic foe Oklahoma has joined Texas in its new league.

“I won’t be answering questions about football penalties on July 1st,” Sankey told On3 this week.
SEC Media Days begin on July 15, which we assume is when Sankey will publicly address the matter.

Whether or not the SEC penalizes the gesture, it’s safe to say it’ll take a lot more than that to keep the fans in Norman, Oklahoma, from chanting “Horns Down” during the teams’ first SEC rivalry game later this year.

Any year, for that matter.
