The Denver Broncos aren’t anticipated to be particularly good next season, or perhaps even the next one.
Nonetheless, there is a significant difference between having a great season and being a winning team, as the two are not always synonymous.
A good season for the Denver Broncos will demonstrate that they have finally found and nurtured their franchise quarterback.
If that leads to some success on the field, so be it.
With that in mind, they’re more than likely to go with Bo Nix at quarterback, since Sean Payton and his coaching staff were apparently quite impressed with him prior to the NFL Draft.
Notably, despite all of the varied reviews he received throughout his long collegiate career, it appears that he had a lot of fans in other institutions.
In a recent interview, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham praised Nix, his leadership abilities, and his ‘alpha dog’ mentality (via Zac Stevens):
“He is an alpha dog,” Whittingham explained. “I do not know him personally, but you can see it on the field. He emanates leadership. You can tell he has a strong command of the entire offence. He is the main point, and all of the players gravitate toward him.”
Nix’s athleticism and physical characteristics have never been a concern.
His decision-making, on the other hand, frequently fell short, as he tended to force things or stretch plays.
Some questioned whether he would be a good first-round pick, but others, including the Broncos, saw plenty of potential in him.
Still, considering his previous experience, he may be the most NFL-ready quarterback entering the league this season.
Only time will tell, but they may have already found their guy.
