The Miami Heat are receiving criticism from all sides.
The media claims they lost the offseason yet again. Fans believe Pat Riley, the team’s president, is past his prime. If anything, the negativity has acted as motivation.
Especially guard Terry Rozier.
He missed the final four regular-season games and the playoffs last year due to neck spasms. On Tuesday, Rozier declared himself healthy. It means the Heat can finally exhibit their full potential.
“I think the fans are bored right now,” Rozier explained. “They want to put together as many [trade] situations as possible for us. At the end of the day, we want to run it again with our current team. Clearly, that’s what it looks like. We’d like to show the fans what we can bring to Miami.
The doubters are dissatisfied because the Heat are playing with essentially the same squad for the fourth consecutive season, but are they? Riley never fully realized his vision for the Heat’s lineup after trading for Rozier in January.
Rozier only appeared in ten games alongside Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo. When healthy, the squad can compete against any team in the Eastern Conference. It at least gives coach Erik Spoelstra a shot.
“I only played with them guys for 10 games,” Rozier remarked. “I’ve only been with the Heat for about 30 games. Just putting it all together, starting at training camp, and working it out together, I think we’ll be good with Spo’s brilliant mind.”
