The Miami Marlins’ utility star, Jazz Chisholm Jr., will almost probably be traded before the next trade deadline. The question is not whether he will be traded, but when, and to which team.
While there has been discussion about where he would fit, we haven’t heard much from Chisholm himself. That was until recently.
Chisholm had a rapid-fire interview in 2022, answering a series of questions in one minute. Three specific replies stood out, particularly among Atlanta Braves supporters. Check it out!
Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves is his favourite and most swaggering player, aside from himself.
The answer to his favourite driving setting was even more intriguing. He mentioned the Atlanta Braves, stating that he like the baseball atmosphere there. With him on the market for a move, Atlanta appears to be the ideal destination for him.
A Braves-Marlins deal allows Jazz Chisholm to play with his favourite player.
Acquiring Chisholm would give the Braves more flexibility. He can play anywhere in the outfield or the middle infield. This allows them to platoon any of their batters who are suffering against a specific handed pitcher, as well as move players around to allow for rest.
Ozzie Albies could occasionally play shortstop. With a difference maker like Chisholm in their lineup, the Braves could do a lot of different things. However, it would be a costly transaction to make. However, this is not something Atlanta cannot afford.
Drue Hackenberg and Darius Vines are two players the Braves might afford to trade after their recent draft haul. After selecting nine pitchers with their first ten picks, the Braves’ ninth and thirteenth-ranked prospects are no longer valuable to the organization. Vines, 26, is a developed arm who sorely needs a change of location to relaunch his professional career. Hackenberg, 22, is having a strong season, with a 3.80 ERA over two levels of the minor leagues.
Nacho Alvarez is the crown jewel of this trade, providing a shortstop who appears to be ready for the major leagues right now. Since being promoted to Triple-A, Alvarez has slashed. In 25 games, he batted 317/.403/.538 and had six home runs and five doubles. Combine this with his superb shortstop defence, and you have one of the Braves’ best prospects.
