According to a new rumour, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in advanced talks about trading for not one, but two All-Star players from the Chicago White Sox.
The Dodgers are currently leading the National League West and have the second-best record in the league. It is an excellent position to begin the second half of the season. However, the expectation from LA brass is to be the best team in the league, not one of them.
That is why the organization has been linked to a number of moves prior to the MLB trade deadline of July 30. Starting pitchers are reportedly a high focus for the front management. According to one fresh rumour, they may be closing in on the best pitcher available, as well as his power-hitting teammates.
On Thursday night, Sports Illustrated reporter Pat Ragazzo claimed sources told him the “Dodgers are heavily in on Chicago White Sox stars Garrett Crochet & Luis Robert Jr.”
Michael Kopech, a reliever with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, may be involved in a high-profile deal. This has been confirmed in recent Crochet trade reports. Interestingly, he noted that “Chicago is also open to including righty reliever Michael Kopech in a bigger deal as well.”
Crochett earned All-Star honours this month, and the strikeout machine is very certain to be dealt. Negotiations for a contract extension failed. Robert Jr. had a disappointing season in 2024, although he was only a year out from an All-Star campaign with 38 home runs the previous year.
Both, particularly Crochett, would be significant contributions to the Los Angeles Dodgers over the stretch drive. It should be noted that the pitcher’s innings pitched are significantly more than his prior total, and he could be in the bullpen during the playoffs.
