The New York Yankees are one of several teams interested in moving pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox.
His departure is one of the most anticipated, and it is expected to result in a significant increase in the amount of prospects the Sox are seeking.
Yankees already know part of the price.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the White Sox are pressing on Spencer Jones, who they previously asked when the Bronx team attempted to sell Dylan Cease.
Chicago wants to trade him, but his exorbitant price has caused other companies to reconsider the move, as they have rejected multiple offers.
According to another rumour, the organization is looking for pitching prospect Chase Hampton in a trade, in addition to Jones.
Crochet will be expensive because he has two years of control and a contract for $800,000. His performance this season has been outstanding, attracting interest from a number of candidates.
Crochet has been employed as a starter by Chicago this season after being used solely as a reliever during his first 72 career appearances. In 20 starts, Crochet has a 3.02 ERA and 150 strikeouts in 107.1 innings.
