HOT UPDATE: Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois Issues Hot Fresh Update on Acquiring A New Head Coach

staff Canada announced on Tuesday that Julien BriseBois has joined the management staff for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-off in February. He will serve as assistant general manager, assisting general manager Don Sweeny and associate general manager Jim Nill in making final selections on which players will represent their country.

Kyle Dubas, Pittsburgh’s general manager, was also named director of player personnel. Mr. BriseBois and Dubas will serve in the same capacity for the 2026 Olympic team. This is the Lightning general manager’s first step into the international game as an executive.

There is no word yet on whether he has persuaded Sweeny to surrender Canada’s strategic maple syrup reserves to the United States in exchange for Nick Perbix and Isaac Howard’s worldwide rights.

In one of his films, The Hockey Guy targeted the Bolts’ top six and top four.
TSN interviewed Anthony Cirelli (video) about the Steven Stamkos controversy, and Tony Two Goals offered advise on how to stop Stammer.

Stamkos joins The Athletic’s list of active players on track to enter the Hall of Fame. Stammer, Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Vasilevskiy, and Victor Hedman are all tier one players who do not need to accomplish anything extra to make it. Brayden Point is ranked as a tier five player, which the writers describe as “check back in a couple of years”. Corey Perry, a former Bolt, joins the “outside chance” category.

Isaac Howard attended the team’s developmental camp earlier this month, and the Michigan State forward is excited to join the “winning culture” in Tampa. According to Corey Long, the Bolts’ former first-round draft pick will return to defend the Big Ten title, but he could turn pro after the season.

There isn’t much happening in the hockey world these days. Yes, there are some restricted free agents out there who still require contracts, but with the league and NHLPA agreeing not to announce arbitration dates, it’s difficult to tell what’s going on in negotiations. We only hear about deals once they are signed (congratulations, Beck Malenstyn!).

Believe it or not, as the calendar approaches August, several unrestricted free players remain without a team. Daily Faceoff compiled a list of the top remaining free agents. There are a few interesting names on there, especially for a squad that is still seeking for help on the second line. The longer these players remain unsigned, the more likely it is that a general manager will be able to sign one of them to a short-term contract.

Columbus did, in fact, employ a head coach, Dean Evason, to stand behind the bench and perhaps lead the Blue Jackets to more than just a top-three draft pick. [Jacketed Cannon] You may remember Evason as the Minnesota Wild’s head coach, a post he held for parts of five seasons. Between 2020 and 2023, he compiled a respectable regular season record of 147-77-27. That success did not convert into postseason success, as the Wild never advanced beyond the first round in any of the four seasons he led them to the playoffs.

Is Axel F a fantastic film? No. Is this a decent film? It’s better than Beverly Hills Cop III, so that’s a plus. It also has a hockey scene, and William Douglas interviews one of the writers about it for NHL.com.
