Jerami Grant, a wing with the Portland Trail Blazers, is one of the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade targets. The Trail Blazers are apparently planning to release Grant within the next year, which might benefit the Lakers.

Aaron Fentress of the Oregonian stated that the Trail Blazers plan to trade Grant within the next year.
“I would be surprised if either Jerami or Anfernee Simons were not relocated. I was informed that was obviously the aim, and that one of the two will most likely leave before training camp,” Fentress said on Sactown Sports 1140. “Both being gone may be different. They clearly have time. They can wait until the trade deadline to see if another party will make a better offer.”

The question is which teams would want to acquire Grant given his present contract. He will start the second year of a five-year, $160 million contract. Because his contract is so pricey, teams may be reluctant to part up draft assets.

Grant is on the Lakers’ radar, but despite the limited timeframe, they want a fair deal for him.

Grant makes sense for the Lakers. He is a tall two-way wing in the prime of his career, averaging 20 points per game. As a result, the Trail Blazers are unlikely to let him go for free. Portland has been asking for two first-round selections in exchange for Jerami Grant, which is a high price for the Lakers, according to reports.

The Lakers currently have few first-round picks at their disposal. As a result, they are being cautious about who they will get in exchange for them. Buha also stated that the Trail Blazers are not interested in D’Angelo Russell.

“I’ve heard Portland doesn’t want D-Lo because they have a million guards anyway,” Buha told the reporter. “So, it just doesn’t really make sense for them.”

Russell’s appeal arises from the fact that his contract will end in 2025. Despite this, the Trail Blazers have little use for him because they are rebuilding, and their most promising young players, Shaedon Sharpe and Scott Henderson, play the same position.

Grant isn’t particularly useful to Portland, but he can be kept without significantly reducing their victory total. The Lakers might wait to see who else becomes available as the 2024-25 season progresses. When all is said and done, both sides may be able to deliver what the other wants.
