The Los Angeles Rams still have some members of their 2021 Super Bowl team that are motivated to return. The Rams are coming off a 10-7 season that saw them advance to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Puka Nacua was critical to their success and will continue to be a key component of their offence for many years. The Rams made a rather major announcement about their 23-year-old wide receiver.

According to ESPN:

Puka Nacua, a Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, is considered week-to-week after suffering a knee injury on Sunday, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

One source, however, said Nacua’s injuries was “not serious.”

Nacua departed the Rams’ joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday after cautiously standing up during a team drill.

Coach Sean McVay said after practice that he did not know what happened to Nacua, who established rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) in 2023.

The Rams are off Monday and will return to practice Tuesday.

The Rams’ latest injury in training camp comes as three-fifths of their starting offensive line is out. Right tackle Rob Havenstein (ankle) and left guard Jonah Jackson (shoulder) are regarded week-to-week, while left tackle Alaric Jackson has an ankle issue.

Nacua attended Washington and BYU before becoming well-known for his record-breaking debut season with Los Angeles.

His 2023 season earned him Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honours after breaking the NFL rookie reception record (105) and receiving yards (1,486).

In 2023, he finished second to Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud for the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

On Sunday, the Rams will play their first preseason game at home against the Cowboys.
