Jones definitely did not appreciate the roughhousing by the Lions defensive line, and he made it perfectly clear.
Unfortunately, the video’s viewpoint was not ideal, so it’s unclear whether any punches were thrown. Regardless, cooler heads eventually prevailed.

This was just one of a few fights that broke out during the practice session, with players on both sides definitely bringing it.

“I mean, when situations like that arise, you try to stand up for your teammates, but I thought it was a good competitive practice all day today,” Jones said. “We made some plays and did some positive things, but there are other aspects that we really need to shore up. However, there is a good level of energy and competitiveness.”

Jones, 27, was keen to downplay the event when questioned by the press. He instead concentrated on the team’s overall performance during practice.
Jones also stated that this was a good test for the Giants in terms of comparing their ability to a team like Detroit.

“I think that’s the goal every day you come out to practice, whether you’re practicing against another team or yourself is to feel better and more confident at the end of the day,” Jones commented on Monday’s session. “I believe we accomplished it, created some plays, and performed admirably throughout the day. As I already stated, there are definitely things we want back and areas where we could improve, but generally, I believe we played tough, physical, and executed effectively.”

One key takeaway from Monday’s practice is that Jones and the Giants communicated effectively. They will not back down from anyone or any situation this season.
