SAD NEWS- OFFICIAL: MLB Suspends Yankees Manager Aaron Boone For 7 Games Over…

NEW YORK (AP)— Yankees manager Aaron Boone received a one-game ban following his latest dismissal and confessed that his arguments may have generated an image in the eyes of umpires.

“Well, I think I’ve earned that reputation,” he stated on Friday, just before Major League Baseball banned and fined him for one game.

Michael Hill, the MLB’s senior vice president of on-field operations, made the news. The MLB claimed that the punishment was “for his recent conduct toward major league umpires, including the actions following his ejection from Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.”

Boone sat out Friday night’s series opener against San Diego, and bench coach Carlos Mendoza took over as manager.

Boone was dismissed for the fourth time this season, the most among major league managers, after becoming upset with Edwin Moscoso’s strike zone during a 3-1 loss. Boone held up four fingers while protesting in the midst of the third inning, indicating that he thought the plate umpire missed four pitches.

Boone also was angry. Moscoco moved away during the confrontation, and the crew chief, first base umpire Chris Guccione, stood between them when Boone attempted to re-engage Moscoso. Boone may have spit on an umpire during an argument.
“Do I believe this is headed to a swift hook? “Not necessarily,” Boone replied. “Maybe I’m insane, and I did more than I realize. I don’t believe that is the case. But, no, I don’t believe I’m being targeted by umpires who are not going to allow particular behaviour. “I believe I am treated decently.

Boone has four ejections this season, one more than David Bell of Cincinnati and Oliver Marmol of St. Louis. Last season, Boone topped the majors with nine, while no other manager had more than five.

“I do think there is probably the occasional bias that exists,” Boone told me. “We are human beings.” I’m sure some individuals dislike hearing from me.

Boone was dismissed against Cleveland on April 12; Toronto on May 15; and Cincinnati on Sunday.

His 30 ejections rank sixth among current managers, despite the fact that his 720 games as of Friday were significantly fewer than those of Bruce Bochy (78 in 4,081 games), Bob Melvin (55 in 2,830), Terry Francona (47 in 3,509), Bud Black (35 in 2,283), and Buck Showalter (34 in 3,282).

Boone averages one ejection every 25 games, which is far faster than Bochy and Melvin (52), Black (65), Francona (75), and Showalter (97).

Bell received 23 ejections in 596 games, for an average of one per 26 games.

“I don’t like that it’s happened a few times this week, and I’d like to not get ejected and hopefully I can start a long streak of not getting ejected,” Boone went on. “I’m not terrified, but it is not my intention to be ejected, and I don’t want to. And I hope I won’t for a while.
