DEAL OFFICIALLY DONE: Twins Have Officially Signed New York Yankees Top RHP For a Club Record Fee .

Right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin has returned to the Minnesota Twins, who claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

Tonkin was picked by Minnesota in 2008 and played for the team until 2017. Tonkin was traded from the New York Mets to the Twins and then back to the Mets in April before being acquired off waivers by the Yankees. Tonkin was designated for assignment on Sunday after the Yankees signed free agent right-hander Phil Bickford.

Tonkin is 4-4 this season in 45 bullpen appearances for the Twins, Mets, and Yankees, with two saves and a 3.74 ERA. He has 68 strikeouts in 65 innings of action. Tonkin in 141 games for the Twins from 2013 to 2017, going 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA.

He also spent time with the Atlanta Braves in 2023. Minnesota also signed right-hander Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Saint Paul, designated right-hander Trevor Richards for assignment, and placed right-hander Joe Ryan on the 60-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain. Boushley appeared in one game for the Twins earlier this season, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over two innings. He has started 22 games for Saint Paul and is 9-5 with a 4.97 earned run average.
