SHOCKING NEWS: Maple Leaf Are Have Officially Confirmed The Contract Termination of Left Wing Nick Robertson Due to…

The Toronto Maple Leafs chose Nick Robertson in the second round, and he had an outstanding post-draft season, making the NHL Playoffs a year later.

Robertson was the youngest player selected in the 2019 draft. Had he been a few days younger, he would have been a top 10 pick in the 2020 draft, making him a perfect steal for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Fast forward to now, and he’s been an injury-plagued mess who has been unable to maximize on his potential and opportunity, and he appears to blame the club for this, deciding he doesn’t want to sign here and has requested a trade.

I think good riddance.

Toronto Maple Leafs should advise the ungrateful brat to hit the road.

Insider Chris Johnson revealed today on TSN Radio that Robertson was “sticking to his guns” and unlikely to withdraw his trade request.

Given that the Leafs have a new coach and plenty of opportunities for Robertson to get some minutes, this seems terribly shortsighted. Furthermore, given how fortunate anyone is to get the opportunity to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, I’d be inclined to doubt this kid’s character and ship him out the first chance I had.

I don’t mind if players ask for a trade after earning it. Robertson is 22 years old and has earned nothing. He can score more than one point per game in the AHL, has an excellent shot and motor, and should be a good NHL player. But right now, he isn’t.

In fact, if he does not have a 40-goal season in the NHL, he will be the first player in history to score as many goals in the OHL at the age he did without having one. It’s evident that Robertson is an incredible talent, but considering his injury history and his want for a move, I’d pass on him.

Being able to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs is an honour. Playing on the same team as Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner is about as good as it gets. Robertson is clearly either receiving bad advise or has an overinflated idea of his own worth. In either case, the Leafs shouldn’t have time for this.If he does not want to be here, find someone who does. If he doesn’t recognize the potential to establish a secondary scoring unit with Knies, McMann, and Cowan, that’s on him. At this point, Robertson appears to be an ungrateful brat, and the Leafs should avoid dealing with him entirely. I would advise him to have fun in San Jose and then trade him for a seventh-round pick.
