JUST IN: RETIREMENT- Cleveland Brown Most Experienced Defensive Manand Star Star Favourite Is Set to Retire from NFL Following His Recent Concussion In The NFL

Denzel Ward is passionate about football, despite the risks.

Cleveland’s three-time Pro Bowl cornerback stated Thursday that he did not consider retiring two weeks ago, when he suffered at least his sixth recorded concussion since being chosen by the Browns in 2018.

Ward returned to practice on Wednesday and was fully cleared from concussion protocol on Thursday, having been out since August 12.

“This is a game I love, man,” Ward said after practice. “I enjoy playing this game and being among the guys out here. I don’t see myself doing much else. So, unless I’m genuinely physically unable to play this game, I don’t see me giving up football anytime soon.”

Ward had his most recent concussion after he smacked the back of his head on the ground. Even though he wore a padded protective guardian cap on his helmet, it did not prevent the injuries.
The league forces players to wear these protective headgear throughout practice, and some continue to do so in preseason games.

Although Ward does not want to wear a guardian cap in games, he has been handed a new helmet that he believes will provide better protection for his head.

The 27-year-old is aware of the risks involved every time he plays. He suffered two concussions as a rookie, one in 2022, another last year, and the most recent one.

Ward said he spoke with a concussion doctor during the summer to understand more about the long-term repercussions of head trauma. He is confident that he is not jeopardizing his future and believes that today’s players are more knowledgeable and prepared.
