The Dallas Cowboys are set to make another run at the Super Bowl this year, as the 2024 regular season kicks off against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. While the Cowboys are ready for another successful season, several questions remain in the quarterback room.
Dallas Cowboys’ Quarterback Trade Proposal
Trey Lance, Dallas’ third-string quarterback, is facing an uncertain future. Lance had a difficult preseason this year, particularly in his last game against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he threw five interceptions. Despite his poor performance, he was able to make the 53-man roster.
Trey Lance’s Career
Lance was the third pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, and he was regarded as the next great quarterback in northern California. However, he was unable to deliver for San Francisco and was transferred to the Cowboys last season when Brock Purdy took over as starter. He has yet to produce with Dallas, prompting suspicion that the rookie quarterback would join a different team soon.
Trade Proposal
The Las Vegas Raiders, who have been dealing with a quarterback issue since trading former starter Derek Carr to the New Orleans Saints, could be interested in signing Lance. In exchange for the quarterback, Las Vegas proposes handing Dallas a late-round draft pick as well as a sixth-rounder. While Lance’s worth has diminished, joining the Raiders, whose receivers include Davante Adams and Jacoby Myers, could provide the spark he needs in his career.
While Las Vegas is likely to try to acquire a quarterback in next year’s draft, bringing in a mobility, young quarterback with potential like Lance might help mould their offence for years to come. Do you believe Lance will be traded next offseason, or will he remain a third-stringer in Dallas?
