DEAL AGREED: Raiders Have Officially Agreed a Blockbuster Trade For Former Patriots Prolific QB to Replace Gardner Minshew II This Season

Tom Brady remains inextricably linked to the Las Vegas Raiders. The seven-time Super Bowl winner is reportedly attempting to buy a part in the team from owner Mark Davis. This has been the case for longer than a calendar year.
Unfortunately for Tom Terrific and the Silver and Black, outside forces stopped this from being completed.

Other owners are concerned that Brady may want to return to football after retiring at the end of the 2022 season. More recently, the NFL has cautioned Brady that his access as a new member of the Fox NFL broadcast crew would be restricted if he purchased a minority stake in the Raiders.

These are the off-field factors influencing Brady’s connection with the Raiders. However, there is something else to concentrate on. It’s quite interesting stuff.
The Las Vegas Raiders wanted to have Tom Brady join the team in 2023.
Raiders source Hondo Carpenter of Sports Illustrated recently revealed that the Raiders brass expected Brady to return in 2023.

“I know there was an expectation from football management that Tom Brady would join the Raiders. And if Tom Brady had been here with Josh McDaniels, I believe the outcome would have been dramatically different,” Carpenter said.
“The Raiders assumed he was coming. “The Raiders had every reason to believe he was coming,” he added. And, no, Tom Brady did not lie to anybody. He did not deceive anyone. Tom Brady did not. Tom Brady’s failure to become a Raider was not the result of any deception or anything on his behalf. Things happened that I’m not going to discuss since they don’t matter.”

There is definitely a lot to unpack here. Brady had recently retired after a successful 23-year career. However, there was speculation that he would join another squad and come out of retirement. This included both the Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers.

Josh McDaniels was in his second season as the Raiders’ head coach. He had 13 seasons of experience coordinating Brady-led attacks in New England. Obviously, there was a relationship here.

Finally, McDaniels was fired eight games into the 2023 season. Brady stays retired. Meanwhile, the Raiders have found themselves in QB purgatory.
