Before the #7 Tennessee Volunteers upset the North Carolina State Wolfpack 51-10 on the road on Saturday night, Nick Saban spoke on College GameDay to discuss the Volunteers. Nico Iamaleava is the talk of the town among the volunteers. This was one of the most important games on the schedule this past weekend, aside from the Texas Longhorns and the Michigan Wolverines.
Against the Wolfpack, he completed 69.6% of his throws for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks. Iamaleava will need to clean up some mess, but the Volunteers’ offence is dangerous because of him. Another aspect of this offence is Dylan Sampson’s running game. His presence in the backfield is an ideal match for the redshirt quarterback.
Nick Saban makes an announcement regarding the Tennessee Volunteers and Nico Iamaleava.
Nick Saban, the former head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, has faced the Tennessee Volunteers in SEC play on numerous occasions. This time, he is making big football predictions for the Southeastern Conference. This is what he said on the GameDay Panel before the Volunteers beat the Wolfpack:
“I believe Tennessee will be difficult to beat with their current quarterback play. I believe they will be difficult to beat by all SEC teams due of their spread offence, and I believe they are better on defence than many realize.
He’s a redshirt freshman. Nico Iamaleava will be a headache for the conference during the 2024 season. They are a dark horse contender for the college football playoffs.
Kent State’s Next Opponent
The Volunteers’ next opponent will be Kent State, before starting SEC play against the #15 Oklahoma Sooners the following week. Tennessee will have the better quarterback in the majority of the remaining games in the 2024 season.
Nico Iamaleava may be one of the reasons why they will make the playoffs this season in an expanded 12-team format. This team has the potential to wreak some havoc in the playoffs thanks to his unique abilities. Nick Saban and other college football analysts may consider him for the Heisman Trophy if he leads this football team to the playoffs this season. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, alongside Quinn Ewers of Texas, Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss, and Carson Beck of Georgia.
Nico Iamaleava is definitely the conference’s fourth-best quarterback right now. D.J. Lagway of the Florida Gators is a freshman quarterback with a lot of skill. Finally, it is up to Iamaleava and the Volunteers to achieve their goals this season under head coach Josh Heupel.
