On Saturday afternoon at Ann Arbour, Michigan, the #2 Texas Longhorns trounced the #17 Michigan Wolverines, winning 31-12. Texas’ performance drew a large crowd. He did something extremely intriguing in preparation for the UTSA game this weekend.
Texas Longhorns’ Head Coach Steve Sarkisian “Warns Team Of The Notre Dame Scenario”
In college football, mood swings may be dramatic from week to week. In the opening week of college football season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Texas A&M Aggies on the road. Notre Dame was rated fifth in the nation last week when it lost 14-13 at home to the Northern Illinois Huskies.
On Monday, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian told ESPN’s Eli Lederman that:
“Human nature remains human nature. So, what did I do in the morning? I led them through the Notre Dame scenario, in which the Irish went into College Station a week ago, won the game, were named a top-five team, and advanced to the College Football Playoff, only to lose to Northern Illinois a week later. I showed them the video of [Kanon Woodill’s game-winning] field goal, as well as the video of Northern Illinois storming the field this morning, as a good reminder that we have no entitlements. We are capable of anything. We have a pretty good team. But we are not entitled to anything. We are going to earn everything. And we’ll have to earn the victory on Saturday night.”
This is another example of the Longhorns’ head coach showing respect for his opponents while also emphasizing to his troops that everything must be earned rather than given. They’re one of the most talented teams in college football.
Texas Cannot Avoid a Letdown.
The Texas Longhorns cannot afford a letdown at home against a weaker opponent after defeating the defending champs, the Michigan Wolverines, on the road in a hostile atmosphere. Texas is one of the top teams in the nation.
This is a game versus the UTSA Roadrunners, with Quinn Ewers as quarterback in the first half and Arch Manning entering by the middle of the second. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has his team prepared for the 2024 college football season.
