The Florida State Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell are off to a rocky start in 2024, going 0-2 following a perfect 2023 season.
The Seminoles fell to two teams despite being double-digit favourites. Both games had a national audience. The first game was a week-zero game, and the second game was played on a Monday, focusing national attention on the problematic Florida State issue.
The Florida State Seminoles’ practice video raised concerns.
Following their second consecutive loss to begin the 2024 season, a practice video emerged of a coach spraying a player with a water gun.
The athlete in question was practicing catching punts, and the water gun is intended to offer a simulated distraction to guarantee that the returner is able to hold on to the ball regardless of what is going on around him during the game.
Regardless, fans slammed the Seminoles and their coaching staff after watching the footage. A cropped version of the same video makes it difficult to understand what is going on and only appears to show the coach and player playing around and having a water gunfight.
Fans assaulted the Florida State Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell after seeing the practice video.
As tensions rise among Florida State supporters, many have called for the dismissal of head coach Mike Norvell and the rest of the coaching staff after witnessing a practice video using a water pistol.
This is despite the fact that Norvell and his team were praised for a similar video released years ago. The revised narrative around Norvell and his team has led to a new perspective on the usage of water cannons in practice.
However, many supporters are clamouring for Norvell and his staff to be dismissed, comparing him to the much-maligned former Seminoles head coach Willie Taggart.
