The Colorado Buffaloes suffered a tough loss against Nebraska on Saturday, dropping to 1-1 on the season, and many fingers are once again pointed at head coach Deion Sanders as he seeks remedies to several issues that persisted from last season.
Paul Finebaum sees things differently, believing that Sanders’ tenure in Boulder may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
On ESPN’s Get Up on Wednesday, Finebaum stated that the situation seemed to be deteriorating. At some point, I believe Deion Sanders will say, “I need to get out of here and go somewhere else.”
Finebaum’s comment was in response to a claim Sanders made regarding his coaching status in which he stated, “I’m not lost. I’m not searching for my identity. We are aiming to win. We’re trying to take the guys to the next level.”
It is absolutely feasible to draw this conclusion about Sanders’ tenure given that his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is expected to enter the NFL Draft following this season, but nothing Sanders has said has indicated that he is seeking for brighter pastures.
Also, he is only two games into his second year as Colorado’s head coach, and he has a 5-9 record in that time, so he hasn’t done anything on the field to warrant a large move to a bigger program or the NFL.
Colorado’s next game is against Colorado State on Saturday, as the team seeks to regain momentum.
