The New York Jets’ feud with Haason Reddick continued throughout Week 2 of the NFL season. Neither side appears inclined to move on this topic. Jets general manager Joe Douglas has declared that the moment Reddick walks through the door, they will make a deal and get him back on the field. Reddick has declared that he will not return to New York until his contract is completed, and he is focused on this issue. He believes he is on solid ground, despite the fact that the fines, game checks, and bonuses he has missed total more than $5 million.
According to a recent Bleacher Report piece, the Detroit Lions could be interested in signing Reddick if the Jets make him available. “The Lions could do the same, and they should be interested in adding a high-end complement opposite Aidan Hutchinson,” according to B/R. “Detroit’s defence looked solid against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but with their Super Bowl window just opening, the Lions shouldn’t be afraid to add more difference-makers if the opportunity to do so arises.”
While these trade options are entertaining to discuss, the reality is that they are now costing the Jets nothing. It did affect them on the field in Week 1, but to be fair, the majority of those players did not even play in preseason.
We believe that pride is the only thing that separates Douglas and Reddick. They both need to focus on business and get the former No. 13 overall pick on the field. The Jets will face the Titans in Tennessee this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
