The Detroit Lions are 1-0 to begin the 2024 NFL season. Detroit will undoubtedly attempt to add at the NFL trade deadline this season. The Lions showed some defensive progress against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, winning 26-20 in overtime.

The Detroit Lions are one of the NFL’s top teams this season. This is a team that intends to compete for a while.

Bleacher Report: Has the Detroit Lions Potentially Landed New York Jets Pass Rusher Haason Reddick? Kristopher Knox, a journalist for Bleacher Report, identified numerous NFL trade candidates as the season enters its second week. Haason Reddick, the New York Jets’ outside linebacker, could be the top trade candidate on the market.

Reddick was obtained in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this summer, but the Jets did not commit him to a long-term contract. This is one of the reasons he hasn’t played for New York this season, and he may be on the move once more.

Kristopher Knox believes the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions could be potential landing locations for the talented pass rusher. Knox said:

“Pass-rusher Haason Reddick remains our top pick because his contract stalemate with the New York Jets persists. Reddick wants a new contract and has requested a trade, so he did not report for Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

According to Schefter, Reddick has already racked up $5 million in NFL-mandated fines for skipping the offseason and is already missing game checks of roughly $800,000. It appears extremely improbable that Reddick will blink before the Jets do.

While Reddick is likely to want a new deal before agreeing to any specific trade, he should still be valuable in the market. The 29-year-old has recorded double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons, including 27 sacks and 49 quarterback pressures in the last two.
Kristopher Knox also explained why the Detroit Lions would make sense together:

Haason Reddick's Jets holdout has become absolutely absurd
“The Lions may do the same, and they should be interested in adding a top-tier complement to Aidan Hutchinson. Detroit’s defence performed admirably against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but with their Super Bowl window still open, the Lions should not be hesitant to acquire more difference-makers if the opportunity arises.

Lions need to pay Aidan Hutchinson.
The Detroit Lions will have to pay Aidan Hutchinson, but that won’t be until at least the 2026 or 2027 season, and possibly later. He has a club option for 2026 with Detroit. Paying Hasson Reddick now would be a positive move for the Lions.

They’ve already signed significant players this offseason, including Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell. General manager Brad Holmes would not be scared to negotiate a trade with the New York Jets and offer Haason Reddick a long-term contract.
