Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is attempting to salvage as much as possible after being plainly outperformed by his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, in Tuesday’s first presidential debate, with an eye on the November 3 elections.

The polls overwhelmingly favoured the former vice president.In response, Taylor Swift, an iconic figure in American society, openly supported Harris’ campaign. This compelled Trump to respond to the statement, and he has now lashed out at the singer in an attempt to undermine whatever effect she may have among voters.

So, in an interview with FoxNews on Wednesday, the former president minimized Swift’s statement, calling her “a very liberal person who seems to always support a Democrat,” while simultaneously making what is plainly a threat against her:

The Republican Party, for its part, attempted to mitigate the impact of Swift’s statement by referring to the Democratic Party as “the Party of the wealthy elite.” Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt blasted Swift’s endorsement as “more evidence that the Democratic Party has become the party of the wealthy elite.” Other Republicans argued that, despite Swift’s endorsement of Harris, many “swifties” backed Trump and will vote for him.

He also justified his decision, saying, “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight.” If you haven’t already, now is the time to do some research on the issues at hand, as well as the stances these candidates take on the most important ones. “I think – Kamala Harris – is a talented and steady-handed leader, and I believe we can accomplish much more in this country if we are guided by calm and not chaos,” she said, signing her message as ‘The Childless Cat Woman,’ alluding to a misogynistic statement by Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, criticizing Kamala Harris and women who do not have biological children.
