The Detroit Lions hope to build on their success from last season, when they reached the NFC Championships for the first time since 1991. The Lions began the 2017 season on a positive note, defeating the Los Angeles Rams in overtime, 26-20, on September 8. The Dan Campbell-coached team benefited greatly from its defence, which was led by Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, and Levi Onwuzurike. However, the Lions will undoubtedly welcome more firepower, particularly if it arrives in the form of a Pro Bowl linebacker.
According to The 33rd Team, the Lions are one of several potential landing sites for Haason Reddick, who is still in a contract standoff with the New York Jets. Aside from the Lions, the report stated that the Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts might all trade for the 29-year-old Reddick.
In March 2024, the Jets acquired the former All-Pro Second Team player through a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has yet to participate in any team activities, including the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He wanted a trade, but the Jets denied it. According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Reddick has already racked up over $5 million in fines and losses.
Cimini is not optimistic that Reddick will play for the Jets, calling it “hard to envision.” “It’s not like he has any loyalty to the franchise,” Cimini said. “He has stepped foot in their facility only once-on April 1, the day of his introductory news conference, when he was all smiles.”
