DEAL IN ADVANCE STAGE: Broncos Are Reportedly In Advance Talks to Land Another High Profile Veteran To Replace Injured Baron Browning

Injuries are piling up for the Denver Broncos, necessitating some roster changes.

Two days after learning that right tackle Mike McGlinchey would be out for about a month with an MCL sprain, the Broncos added edge rusher Dondrea Tillman to the 53-man roster. Mike Klis of KUSA-Ch. 9 was the first to disclose the transfer.

The move would most likely coincide with legally placing McGlinchey on recallable injured reserve, which would mean he could return no earlier than the Oct. 17 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Promoting Tillman is also linked to the status of Baron Browning, who departed last Sunday’s 13-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a foot injury. Browning only played 12 snaps before succumbing to the ailment.

Browning has remained healthy throughout training camp and the preseason. Last year, he began the season on the physically unable to perform list due to a meniscus tear, but he returned to play in 10 of the final 11 games. The Broncos went 6-4 last season with Browning in the lineup.

Tillman was kept on the practice squad after performing well in training camp and the preseason. He caught the attention of the Broncos after helping the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL win a title, recording four sacks during the league’s 10-game regular season. Tillman recorded 10 tackles and a pass defence during a two-game postseason run.

Tillman, a graduate of Indiana University in Pennsylvania, spent three seasons with the Stallions before making his NFL debut this summer.

With Tillman promoted, the Broncos are set to sign edge rusher Andrew Farmer to the practice squad. Farmer appeared in eight games for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, totaling 60 defensive snaps and 48 special-teams snaps.
