HUGE UPDATE: Atlanta Brave Head Coach Brian Gerald Snitker Issues An Important and Crucial Update on Austin Riley Return.

With Ozzie Albies returning yesterday night, the Braves had a wonderful opportunity to gain ground in the Wild Card race after the Mets lost to the Phillies. However, the Marlins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, and despite having numerous opportunities to tie the game, the Braves fell one run short and remain two games behind New York with eight games remaining.
Atlanta is running out of time. With each passing day, it becomes increasingly likely that they will miss the postseason for the first time since 2017. This is especially frustrating considering they could have a couple important players back in October if they can make it into the playoffs.

According to Brian Snitker, Austin Riley will undergo a CT scan on his fractured wrist on Monday, which will determine whether he can remove his cast.
Riley will almost certainly not be able to return before the playoffs, but he could be ready for a Wild Card series if the Braves finish strong without him.

Along with Riley, Reynaldo Lopez hopes to recover from shoulder discomfort.
Lopez is technically entitled to return from the injured list before the end of the regular season, but this does not appear to be the case. However, a comeback in October appears to be a possibility.

Despite being two games behind with only eight games remaining, the Braves will have one final chance to meet the Mets at Truist Park, beginning next week. That’s about all this team has left to hang its hat on. If they win the series, they will have the opportunity to extend their playoff streak to seven years.
