On September 19, basketball legend Michael Jordan was spotted at the Champions League game between Monaco and Barcelona. Jordan’s eyes appeared to be yellow in images taken at the Stade Louis II Stadium, which sparked anxiety among social media users.
According to The Daily Mail, several fans claimed that Jordan’s yellow eyes were an indication of jaundice caused by alcohol misuse or high melanin pigment on the surface of the eye.
However, a source close to Jordan, 61, told the English site that the former Bulls guard is in good health, despite concerns over his health.
According to The Daily Mail, “Mike is OK,” according to an unnamed source. “He goes to the doctor, he is just getting older and the recent pics are in no way or should be a reason for concern.”
There’s nothing wrong with him. We all need to get more exercise, and Mike appreciates the life he has created for himself, but he does not have any underlying illnesses.
According to the New York Post, Jordan was on vacation in Europe with his wife, Yvette Prieto.

According to The Daily Mail, a source close to Jordan said the Hall of Famer feels “embarrassed” by the viral response to his rare public appearance in Monaco.
“He has heard fans’ concerns and appreciates them, but he is also a little embarrassed that people are seeing him in this way,” the insider told The Daily Mail. “He doesn’t want to be remembered by people as looking sick and down and out, the next time we see him, it will be dramatically different and he will look much better, he will bounce back.”
While Jordan’s recent photo releases concerned some fans, others pointed out that he had yellow eyes even during the Netflix docuseries “Last Dance”.
Following the series’ debut in 2020, a doctor theorized to Vice about Jordan’s eyes.
“(Jordan’s) eyes are slightly discoloured, which may indicate jaundice, but there appears to be a slightly raised lesion on the eye, which could indicate something local causing the discoloration, such as a pinguecula,” said Dr. Val Phua, an ophthalmologist at Eagle Eye Centre Singapore, according to Vice.
According to Vice, a pinguecula is a benign growth on the surface of the eye.
“Yellowish discolouration of the eyes may be more obvious in a dark-skinned individual compared with someone who is fair-skinned,” Phua claimed, according to Vice.
Michael Jordan rarely appears on television.
According to The Daily Mail, a person close to Jordan has a theory for why fans are surprised when he makes rare public appearances.
“Michael Jordan isn’t always out there and on our TV screens, so we haven’t seen him age,” the person explained, according to the outlet. “The majority of the time, people see him when his highlights are presented, or when we see his crying face, which has become one of the most popular memes in history.
“So when we see him like we have just seen him, it is very jarring because we have to reason to ourselves that our hero is getting older, which means we are getting older,” according to a source. “Everyone sees Charles Barkley and Shaq [Shquille O’Neal] all the time, and they have both considerably aged, but since we see them all the time, it is easier to reason the changes that have happened to them.”
Jordan pursued a number of business pursuits after his playing career, including the ownership of two franchises, yet he rarely appears on television.
