The Washington Commanders are 2-1 this season following Jayden Daniels’ outstanding effort against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. Washington defeated Cincinnati, 38-33. With the Bengals losing, they fell to 0-3 on the season.
Daniels completed 21 of 23 throws (91.3 percent) for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried for 39 yards on 12 carries and scored one touchdown, averaging 3.3 yards per carry.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young with the first overall choice from Alabama, while the Houston Texans selected C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick from Ohio State. Stroud earned Rookie of the Year last season, and Young is already on the bench for Carolina this season.
The Chicago Bears selected quarterback Caleb Williams from USC as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, while the Washington Commanders chose Jayden Daniels from LSU as the second overall pick. On Wednesday’s episode of The Herd on FS1, Colin Cowherd mentioned Daniels of the Commanders, saying, “Anyone else watch that game and think to themselves, do we have a C.J. Stroud thing going on?” “Where the number two quarterback pick is far superior to the number one pick.”
This is interesting because it could happen again. Jayden Daniels has completed 80.3% of his passes so far this season, totaling 664 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. He also carried for 171 yards on 38 carries and scored three touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Daniels Performs Better Than Caleb Williams
Remember when the Chicago Bears fanbase said Caleb Williams was going to salvage the franchise? Well, Chicago is 1-2 this season and ranks last in the NFC North. They moved on from Justin Fields this offseason, and he is doing well with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Caleb Williams has completed 59.3% of his passes this season, totaling 630 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions. He has also run for 67 yards on 11 occasions with no touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry.
Jayden Daniels has had a strong season with the Washington Commanders. This topic will be revisited if he outperforms Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears. Daniels will compete alongside New York Giants wide out Malik Nabers and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. for NFL Rookie of the Year this season.
