Jayden Daniels got his first FedEx Air Player of the Week award for his play against the Arizona Cardinals. Daniels is the first rookie to earn this award this season, and he has undoubtedly been the greatest quarterback in this year’s draft. He guided the Washington Commanders to a 42-14 victory and continues to perform at an elite level. Daniels completed 26 of 30 passes (86.7%) for 233 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 47 yards and one touchdown. Daniels is the first Washington quarterback to earn a FedEx Award since Kirk Cousins in Week 11, 2016.
FedEx will donate $2,000 in Daniels’ name to a Historically Black College or University of his choice, which will be used to fund needs-based scholarships for eligible HBCU students.
While Daniels is a newbie to the title, the other FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week recipient is a veteran: Ravens RB Derrick Henry, who dominated the Bills with 209 scrimmage yards (199 rushing, 10 catching) and two touchdowns.
Jayden Daniels was the second overall pick in this year’s draft, trailing only Caleb Williams, who was selected by the Chicago Bears. He has also behind him in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race from before the draft and throughout the season. That has changed, with Williams appearing like a rookie and Daniels bursting onto the national scene. Daniels is currently the favourite on FanDuel, while Williams has dropped to third place.
FanDuel’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds:
Jayden Daniels -180.
Malik Nabers +340.
Caleb Williams +600.
Marvin Harrison, Jr. +700
