The Las Vegas Raiders will most likely make a move for a quarterback following the season. They missed out on Michael Penix Jr. in the recent NFL draft, leaving them with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell. While both quarterbacks have demonstrated the ability to make plays and win a few games, neither is a long-term option at the position.
It is unclear whether the Raiders will draft or sign a player in free agency, but all indications point to them having a high overall pick in the 2018 draft. If they have a high selection, owner Mark Davis may have stated on Friday where he wants to go with it.
Davis was seen speaking with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders during Game 3 of the WNBA Semifinals between the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces.
Davis said, “Who knows? “You might be home right now.”While both parties may be interested in this occurring, with Sanders’ father and coach, Deion Sanders, expressing at an interest in the Raiders last week, the Raiders may not be good enough tankers to pull it off.
According to CBS Sports’ most recent mock draft, the Raiders will select 11th overall, with three quarterbacks going in the first five picks. Sanders was one of the quarterbacks, expected to go second overall to the New York Giants. So, for Davis’ comments to be accurate, he may need to trade up during the draft. Sanders has guided Colorado to a 4-1 record in five games, throwing for 1,630 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
