Davante Adams, an All-Pro wide receiver, wants to join the New York Jets. However, the Las Vegas Raiders do not have to agree to that. With the Raiders and Adams seemingly at odds over what to do with their current situation, Las Vegas may very easily move Adams to a team he either does not want to play for or is not in their conference. According to ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler, the Washington Commanders could give the Raiders with a reprieve from the Jets.
“I’ve talked to some teams around the league who expect Washington maybe to be a sleeper there,” Fowler indicated. “I would be surprised by that based on what I’m hearing because they’ve got a young core but certainly they need receiver, so we’ll see how it shakes out.” Adams has a hamstring ailment that has kept him out of the Raiders’ lineup in recent weeks.
The expectation is that because to his big cap hit ($13 million) and age (32), Las Vegas will not have the type of draft capital returned to them in the long run.
Washington has both cap room and draft capital to make this move possible, adding another wrinkle to the Adams drama, which is far from over yet.
