BREAKING: Official Proposed Trade Has Cowboys Swap Receiver for $140 Million 6-Time Pro Bowler

The Dallas Cowboys are still being mentioned as a possible destination for superstar receiver Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. There have been different rumours about how interested the Cowboys are in Adams.

If Dallas is aggressive in pursuing Adams, what would the price be for the six-time Pro Bowl receiver? According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, the Cowboys would acquire Adams in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and wide receiver Jalen Brooks.

Most aggressive Davante Adams trade suitor is just asking for more broken promises

“The Raiders will likely have better offers, but it’s difficult for the Cowboys to give up much more in terms of future draft picks,” Machota reported on October 2, 2024, with the headline: “Davante Adams trade proposals: What could the Raiders get for the future Hall of Fame WR?” “They recently made Dak Prescott the league’s highest-paid player, and receiver CeeDee Lamb the second-highest-paid non-quarterback.” They intend to eventually sign Micah Parsons to a contract that would likely make him the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback.

Jerry Jones, the Cowboys’ owner/GM, has always been interested in receivers, despite other areas of concern such as the defensive line and running backs. He has capitalized on draft picks like as Dez Bryant and Lamb, but he is also prepared to go to any length to get big-play veterans,” Machota added.

“He traded two first-round picks for Joey Galloway in 2000. He signed Terrell Owens in 2006. In 2008, he exchanged first, third, and sixth-round draft picks for Roy Williams. In 2018, he traded a first-round draft pick for Amari Cooper.

The Cowboys are’monitoring’ a potential blockbuster trade with the Raiders for Davante Adams.

One of the primary impediments to the Cowboys acquiring Adams is his massive five-year, $140 million contract. Adams’ contract includes another two seasons after this one. Adams has a $25.3 million cap hit and a $16.8 million salary in 2024.

Dallas’ trade rumours with Adams heightened after The Athletic’s Dianna Russini revealed that the Cowboys were “monitoring” a potential deal for the playmaker

“The Jets and Cowboys are among the many teams monitoring Davante Adams’ situation,” Russini stated in an October 2 message on X. “Both checked in with the Raiders. At this point, I’m informed that Vegas will not make a move until a team’s asking price is met — but Adams wants out as soon as possible.”

There are conflicting reports about the Cowboys’ interest in a trade with the Raiders.

Jane Slater of NFL Network later claimed that Dallas was not interested in acquiring Adams. According to the league insider, the Cowboys’ hesitation stems primarily from financial concerns.

“When asked about Davante Adams, HC Mike McCarthy expressed respect for him as a player but did not discuss player acquisitions,” Slater stated in an October 2 message on X. “Internally, I’m told the Cowboys aren’t in on Adams ‘don’t have the money’ and more importantly draft capital next year more important than ever.”

The Cowboys are shorthanded at wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, with Brandin Cooks on injured reserve. Jalen Tolbert is coming off a career game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, when he caught 7 passes for 87 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown. Adams’ finances make it difficult to believe the Cowboys will be bold enough to sign him.
