A SURPRISE SIGNING: Packer Have Officially Made a Surprise Signing Of Offensive Weapon Ahead Of Week 6 Amid Key Injury Crisis

The Packers made an unexpected personnel move on Thursday before of their Week 6 game against the Cardinals, signing TE John FitzPatrick from the Falcons’ practice squad to the active roster.

Luke Musgrave, a 2023 second-round pick, has been battling with an ankle ailment, thus FitzPatrick’s promotion appears to signal that he will miss Sunday’s game. Tucker Kraft has emerged as a powerful weapon in the previous two weeks, allowing the team to be patient with Musgrave while he recovers.

This will be FitzPatrick’s first game with Green Bay. He appeared in nine games for Atlanta in 2023, catching one pass for 12 yards.

Packers Sign TE John FitzPatrick!

Packers add TE John FitzPatrick to the active roster before Week 6.
FitzPatrick is a prototypical blocking tight end, standing six feet seven and weighing 250 pounds. He played four years at Georgia, catching just 17 catches for 200 yards and one touchdown. Given his lack of receiving expertise, he’s unlikely to play a significant pass-catching role on Sunday.

Musgrave was available in each of the Packers’ first five games, but he did not play a snap in Week 5 and is now expected to sit out Week 6. Green Bay’s skill-position group is diminishing as a result of Christian Watson’s injury and the current Romeo Doubs issue, not to mention Jordan Love’s early injury, which forced him to miss three games.

Fans have yet to see the Packers at full strength. They’re still 3-2 in a strong NFC North, but it’s reasonable to anticipate the club to improve dramatically once key contributors recover and Doubs’ predicament is settled.

For the time being, Green Bay aims to slow down an upstart Arizona team that recently defeated San Francisco. Despite the injury, the Packers remain 4.5-point home favourites on FanDuel Sportsbook.

If they achieve expectations and improve to 4-2, fans should be optimistic about their playoff chances moving ahead. The squad needs Musgrave and Watson back to realize its full potential, but there’s plenty of hope that FitzPatrick and Kraft can deliver when needed.
