The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of another disastrous season. Through their first seven games, they are 2-5 and have already dealt standout wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets.
However, heading into Week 8, Las Vegas was forced to make a significant adjustment in the quarterback room.
Breaking: Raiders Make Major QB Change (Report)
According to Adam Schefter from ESPN:
The Raiders placed quarterback Aidan O’Connell on injured reserve and added Cardinals practice squad member Desmond Ridder to their active roster.
Ridder, 25, started 13 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season after playing four as a rookie in 2022. His career record as a starter is 8-9. In 2023, he threw 2,826 yards for 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In 2022, the Falcons selected him in the third round (74th overall).
Ridder was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for wide receiver Rondale Moore after the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins. This summer, Clayton Tune won the backup role over Ridder, and Ridder did not make the Cardinals’ 53-man roster. He was a member of the Cardinals’ practice squad before joining with Las Vegas.
