HUGE UPDATE: Dodgers’ Manager Dave Roberts Provides Massive Injury Update on Shohei Ohtani and Gavin Lux, Ahead Of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke with media via Zoom on Tuesday afternoon, providing updates on a few injured players.

First baseman Freddie Freeman should be ready for Game 1 of the World Series against the New York Yankees this Friday.

Roberts also indicated that infielder Gavin Lux is expected to be “full go” for the World Series after suffering a hip flexor injury during the NLCS. Meanwhile, shortstop Miguel Rojas’ status is unknown, as he missed the NLCS due to an adductor issue.

“I really feel that it was the right decision not having him on the CS [roster], given his health,” according to Roberts. “He’s made strides. I know he’ll do everything he can to make the World Series squad, but we have to be confident that he can run and defend the way he does. So I’m hopeful, but not sure right now.”

Lux was limited in the NLCS against the New York Mets, which allowed Chris Taylor to get greater playing time.

Taylor started two games against the Mets and finished 3-for-7 with two runs scored, one walk, one stolen base, and one strikeout.

“I think we did a good job of trying to pick our spots to get him in there, to get a pinch-hit here, but not to kind of regress with the hamstring, the hip flexor,” Roberts said when asked about Lux versus Zoom. “I think that with these days off, come Friday he should be a full go.”

Lux only started two games versus the Mets and was hitless in six at-bats, including a walk and a sacrifice bunt. The four games he did not start were against left-handed starters, and he sat during the regular season.

Rojas may have a more tough time making the World Series team now that Tommy Edman has been selected the NLCS Most Valuable Player and Kiké Hernandez has continued to perform well in October.

The 35-year-old infielder hasn’t played since Game 3 of the NLDS, and while a World Series appearance would be a dream come true for him, he may not be able to make the roster.
