JUST IN: Commander HC Dan Quinn Provides Details Reason Commanders Surprising Cut Jamin Davis

The Washington Commanders could unexpectedly become one of the NFL’s future franchises. And they are doing it without many of their former players. The Commanders’ roster purge, led by general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn, continued on Tuesday, with the release of 2021 first-round selection pick Jamin Davis. Washington now possesses none of Ron Rivera’s five first-round draft picks from 2019 to 22.

Jamin Davis' hustle earns the Commanders a forced fumble takeaway

While 2024 rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leads the team to a stunning 5-2 record, the organization has lost Dwayne Haskins and Montez Sweat (2019), Chase Young (2020), Davis (2021), and Jahan Dotson (2022). Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr., last year’s top pick, intercepted a ball in last week’s victory over the Carolina Panthers, but he has struggled to earn playing time under Quinn.

Overall, only 12 of Washington’s 43 2019-23 draft picks are on the active roster.Davis, the 19th overall pick out of Kentucky, never made an impact as a linebacker and was switched to edge rusher by Quinn last offseason.
