The Detroit Lions are still looking for methods to replace outstanding pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson’s production. Detroit lost one of the top NFL pass rushers of the season to a broken leg. The Lions have until the NFL trade deadline on November 5 to make a move, which is wonderful news. Athlon Sports’ Chris Licata compiled a list of top probable NFL trade offers, with Detroit adding another standout defensive to the Motor City. Hutchinson’s impact is nearly impossible to match, and it remains to be seen whether Detroit will seek alternatives. However, Los Angeles Chargers standout pass rusher Khalil Mack is an intriguing potential choice for the Lions.
According to the trade proposal, the Lions would acquire Mack by surrendering the Chargers 2025 fourth- and seventh-round draft picks. Mack offers an excellent pedigree as an eight-time Pro Bowler who was voted Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. The great defender has a one-year, $19 million contract and will become a free agency in 2025. Mack has only 2.5 sacks in 2024, after recording a career-high 17 last season.
“Yes, it may be unlikely, and there may be more cost-friendly options out there, but with Haason Reddick seemingly working out his differences with the Jets for this season, the Lions need a real impact replacement for Aidan Hutchinson,” Licata wrote on Sunday, Oct. 24. “After seven weeks, no other Lions defensive has had more than 19 quarterback pressures. “Hutchinson had 45 in five games,” Licata said. “Enter Mack, who is still disrupting offences at age 33 (leads the Chargers in pressures with 22) and is fresh off of consecutive Pro Bowl seasons.”
