After losing their season opener to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in Week 1, the Washington Commanders have emerged as one of the NFL’s hottest teams, with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels putting on a weekly show as the franchise’s new leader.
The Commanders have won five of their previous six games, demonstrating that Washington is the real deal in the NFC this season while also leading the NFC East division, which is no easy accomplishment given that the division is shared with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
Unfortunately for Washington, Daniels suffered a rib injury early in last week’s win over the Carolina Panthers and did not return, raising concerns about his future health and when he might be able to return to the field for the Commanders.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Daniels is officially labelled as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears at Northwest Stadium in Washington.
Although it would be unfortunate for Daniels to miss this game against fellow rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who was selected one selection earlier in the 2024 NFL Draft, this is hardly a long-term ailment for the former Heisman Trophy winner.
Undoubtedly, Daniels offers the Commanders a better chance of winning against the Bears on Sunday and will help the squad make a statement against another strong NFC team.
