The Washington Commanders’ rampage continues with Dan Quinn’s club, completing a clean sweep of the New York Giants with a 27-22 victory at MetLife Stadium. The Commanders currently lead the division and are 2-0 in the NFC East. With games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys ahead, the new era gets off to a fast start. Jayden Daniels, who was sacked five times in the Week 2 win, was kept clean by his offensive line and finished the day 15 for 22 with 209 yards and two touchdowns.
He was also a viable runner, gaining 35 yards on eight carries. And he understands the value of remaining undefeated in the division. “You want to win your division, you got to win those games,” Daniels told the crowd. “therefore division opponents are more than just someone who isn’t in our division, therefore that’s what we set out to do.
We’re two and zero; we’ve got a few more to go.” It was billed as a brutal slugfest, and while the scores were close for most of the game, the Commanders did enough to win their sixth game and take control of the NFC East.
The run game was again pivotal, racking up 149 yards with Chris Rodriguez leading the way with 52 yards from 11 carries, while Noah Brown (five receptions, 60 yards), Olamide Zaccheaus (two receptions, 48 yards)
, Austin Ekeler (three receptions, 41 yards), and Terry McLaurin (two receptions, 19 yards, two touchdowns) helped power Washington to a win. The Commanders appear to improve every week, and while they didn’t have everything their way at MetLife, Daniels made a crucial play late in the fourth quarter. As a result, they have a 7-2 record and a comfortable lead in their division.
