The Denver Broncos and Bo Nix came dangerously close to handing the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season on Sunday. They appeared to have sealed the deal until their final-second field goal attempt was stopped by the Chiefs defence.
Despite losing 16-14 to the Chiefs, Nix and the Broncos put up a strong fight against the NFL’s only unbeaten club. Nix had one of his better performances as a rookie, completing 22 of 30 throws for 215 yards and two touchdowns. He had a QB rating of 115.3.
Despite the setback, Broncos coach Sean Payton was thrilled with his young quarterback. He described Nix’s performance as “gutsy” during the post-game press conference. Payton also stated that Nix played well and remained “poised” throughout the game.
They’ve come a long way since their tense sideline confrontation a month ago.
The Broncos’ setback on Sunday moves them to 5-5. Nix’s completion percentage is currently 62.6%, with 1,753 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions through ten games this season.
