On Sunday, Minnesota Vikings sensation Justin Jefferson made his first reception of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in four plays, and it was a big one. Despite only being a five-yard reception, Jefferson moved up to fourth in Minnesota’s all-time receiving yards list. Sunday is Jefferson’s 69th career game, and he now has nearly 6,700 receiving yards, surpassing former teammate Adam Thielen’s 6,682 yards.
In Vikings history, only the following players came before him: Cris Carter – 12,383 Randy Moss – 9,316 Anthony Carter – 7,636 He went up to fifth place on that list two weeks ago and is still making history. While it may take him some time to climb the rankings, there’s no denying that those numbers are all in jeopardy with Jefferson playing the way he does. In his career, he has already set numerous team and NFL records, including the most catches (324) and receiving yards (4,825) in NFL history in a player’s first three seasons, the most receiving yards in NFL history in a player’s first four seasons (5,512), and the most career games with at least 150 receiving yards in a player’s first four seasons (11).
He was also only 102 yards behind Torry Holt in NFL history for most receiving yards in a player’s first five seasons heading into Sunday’s game. That one may be overthrown very soon.
