Following the Detroit Lions’ stunning 26-23 win against the Houston Texans, quarterback Jared Goff exchanged passionate words with head coach Dan Campbell. Despite Goff’s poor effort, which included five interceptions, the Lions staged a stunning comeback in the second half, finished up by a game-winning kick.
On Tuesday, Goff reflected on his conversation with Campbell following the victory. “I just told him that’s why our team is different, because we can handle situations like that. And he agreed,” Goff told the crew of 97.1 The Ticket.
The Lions’ grit was on full show as they rallied from a 16-point deficit at halftime. Even though Goff’s turnovers threatened the team’s momentum, the quarterback’s confidence and leadership were critical to the Lions’ ability to stay in the game.
Goff also acknowledged his teammates’ support. “I appreciate those guys sticking behind me,” he said later.
The Lions are now 8-1 on the season, and the team’s confidence and trust, particularly between Goff and Campbell, have played a significant role in their ability to recover from difficult situations like this one.
