JUST IN: ”VOLS QB SHAKEDOWN: Nico Lamaleava’s Injury Threatens to Derail Tennessee’s Season”

Nico Iamaleava scheduled to be out on Saturday.
According to FOX Sports’ Chris Fallica, the talented Tennessee quarterback is not expected to play against Georgia this weekend. Now, it is crucial to note that this report does not officially rule Iamaleava out of Saturday’s game, but it does suggest that he is unlikely to play.

Iamaleava is enjoying a fantastic freshman season for Tennessee so far this season. This year, Iamaleava has completed 144 of 221 throws for 1,879 yards. He has also thrown 11 touchdown passes and only four interceptions.

Tennessee was already going to have a difficult time winning in Athens with Iamaleava, but if he misses this game, the Vols will have an even more difficult time winning. Yes, Georgia football still needs to play a superb game to win, but their chances will improve significantly with Iamaleava on the sidelines.

Tennessee’s first official injury report will be revealed on Wednesday, so it would be interesting to check Iamaleava’s health there. However, as things stand, it appears that he will be sidelined, which would be a welcome relief for Georgia.

Hopefully, Kirby Smart and Georgia can take advantage of this news, as losing to Tennessee without Iamaleava would be devastating.

Georgia football will once again play one of the biggest games in college football this weekend. Are you used to hearing this?

The Bulldogs will face No. 6 Tennessee, a game that will be eagerly watched by the entire country because it is one of two this weekend featuring ranked teams. Both Georgia and Tennessee are battling for the SEC championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, and for Georgia, this is a must-win.

Injury reports are one of the most important things to pay attention to in the lead-up to each game. While the first official reports will not be released until Wednesday, there is one major injury that Georgia and Tennessee supporters are keeping a careful eye on. That is Tennessee’s standout quarterback, Nico Iamaleava.

Iamaleava sustained an upper-body injury during the Vols’ 33-14 victory over Mississippi State this past weekend. He missed the rest of the game due to the injury, thus it was unclear whether he would be fit to play this weekend.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel delivered a major update on his quarterback’s status earlier this week.

“(Iamaleava) was with us today, had a really good day,” Heupel told dawgnation.com. “I believe he’ll be in terrific shape for Saturday. But you may track the (availability) report on Wednesday and throughout the week.”

Nico Iamaleava is likely to play this Saturday.
According to Heupel, Iamaleava is in “great shape” to face the Vols this Saturday in Athens. This is major news because Iamaleava is one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Iamaleava has completed 144 of 221 throws this season, for 1,879 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s also only thrown four interceptions, something Georgia fans wish they could say about Carson Beck.

It is never appropriate to wish for a player’s injury, but it is difficult to ignore how much of an advantage Georgia would have gained if Iamaleava had been out. However, it appears that Iamaleava will be ready to go this weekend, which will boost UGA’s chances of victory.
