Boise State Broncos star Ashton Jeanty has emerged as the premier running back in college football, firmly establishing himself in the Heisman Trophy race as November unfolds.
Jeanty has been a driving force behind Boise State’s remarkable season. The Broncos boast an 8–1 record, including a perfect 5–0 mark in Mountain West play, and are ranked 13th in the College Football Playoff (CFP) poll. If the season ended today, Boise State would secure a spot in the 12-team CFP as the highest-ranked Group of 5 program.
The 20-year-old junior’s standout season has catapulted him onto the national stage. When asked about his NFL aspirations, Jeanty, a Lone Star High School alum, expressed a desire to play for the Dallas Cowboys, a team close to his heart and family.
“If I could script it, I mean, my family’s all in Texas. I used to play in the Cowboys’ practice stadium. So family being there, all the connections, all the relationships—I feel like that would be just the perfect city to play in,” Jeanty shared.
Jeanty’s statistics this season are nothing short of extraordinary. Over nine games, he has recorded 1,734 rushing yards on 224 carries, scoring 23 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 7.7 yards per attempt—all career highs.
Boise State’s quest for the Mountain West title continues Saturday night when they face San Jose State. With Jeanty leading the charge, the Broncos remain strong contenders for a spot in the CFP and a championship run.
