Butler only played seven minutes due to the injury, which happened during a Nov. 8 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Before leaving, he only managed two points, one rebound, and two assists throughout his brief appearance.

With averages of 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, along with a decent 47.8 percent shooting percentage, Butler’s figures this season show a strong but unimpressive start.

Given Heat president Pat Riley’s prior worries about player availability that influenced contract extension talks, the timing of the setback was especially annoying.

The game versus Indiana was made even more crucial by their 0-1 NBA Cup group play record.

The Heat’s current task is to keep up their competitive advantage till their starreturns, a situation that is well-known to a group that has become used to making last-minute adjustments.
