Caitlin Clark, an Indiana Fever player, had a tremendous WNBA debut season following her epic undergraduate career at Iowa. Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists, breaking the WNBA’s single-season assist record while posting remarkable statistical averages. Clark was already one of the most popular players in sports prior to entering the WNBA, and his rookie season elevated his status to new levels. Clark proved to be one of the most popular basketball players, helping Indiana and the WNBA break numerous attendance and viewership records. With an opportunity to capitalize on this, the NBA may soon make a significant Clark decision for its 2025 All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Friday that the NBA may revamp the format of its All-Star Game. Furthermore, according to an NBA insider, Clark may participate in a three-point contest similar to last year’s Steph Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu.
“Curry and Ionescu are in strong conversations to return in a variation of the shootout, which could include other NBA and WNBA players such as Klay Thompson and Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, sources said,” Charania reported.
Last season’s Steph vs. Sabrina three-point showdown was a huge success, with the NBA’s all-time leading three-pointer maker narrowly defeating the New York Liberty star. Ionescu picked Clark as her ideal partner if the NBA expanded the competition to a 2v2 format, saying on Nov. 9, “If I had to choose, I’d pick Caitlin Clark for my team.”
Based on Charania’s account, it appears that there is some actual momentum towards this.
