If you’ve been following the Packers in recent years, you’ll know that one of the team’s most intriguing and infuriating players is also one of its greatest. That’s cornerback Jaire Alexander. Alexander was a risky bet heading into Week 11 versus the Bears.

He hurt his knee against the Jaguars on October 27 and missed Green Bay’s Week 9 loss to Detroit. He had an extra week of relaxation during the Packers’ bye week, so he decided to give it a shot in Chicago. Alexander, who played only seven games last year due to injury (as well as a one-game team suspension), is one of the NFC’s best cover players. Even though he hasn’t been at his best, he has a Pro Football Focus score of 75.2 this season, which ranks 14th among 107 cornerbacks.

Alexander attempted to play through the injury in Chicago on Sunday, but his efforts were short-lived. “Matt LaFleur telling me, ‘I don’t think you’re gonna see him the rest of the way.'” According to the Packers, he is uncertain to return. The Packers later confirmed that he is out.

Alexander has appeared in seven of the Packers’ ten games this season, recording two interceptions, including a pick-six. He came into the game with seven passes defended, 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an opposing quarterback rating of 86.9 when passes were thrown his way.
