According to NFL source Aaron Wilson, the Detroit Lions plan to activate defensive tackle Brodric Martin from injured reserve. While the move has not yet been made public by the team, the Lions cleared a spot on the 53-man roster earlier in the day by sending safety Ifeatu Melifonwu back on injured reserve due to a fresh ailment.
Martin, who has been out for much of the season, will provide depth to the Lions’ defensive line as they prepare for the stretch run. The squad has been plagued by injuries in recent weeks, and Martin’s return will be a welcome addition to their defensive line.
Here’s what Dan Campbell said about Martin when he spoke to the media on Monday.
“He’s been doing a good job,” Campbell remarked. “He’s done an excellent job out there on the practice squad, giving us a nice look and attempting to improve his craft. So, I believe we would like to have him on the roster and at least have him, and then see where things go.”
