SAD UPDATE: “It’s Going to Kill Us;” Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Frustrated Over Latest Jordan Love Update Following Thanksgiving Victory

The Green Bay Packers won one of their best games on Thanksgiving, defeating the Miami Dolphins 30-17. The offence, defence, and special teams all contributed significantly to the victory, with several players turning in standout performances.

Starting quarterback Jordan Love completed 21 of 28 throws for 274 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 129.9. It was his second game without an interception and his third with a passer rating above 100.

Isaiah McDuffie and Quay Walker led the Packers’ defence to victory, despite initial doubts about their performance. They recorded 20 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and three tackles for loss.

Robert Rochell and Brandon McManus excelled on special teams. Rochell recovered a fumble in the first quarter to set up Green Bay’s first touchdown, and McManus was flawless on field goal and extra point attempts despite the frigid conditions.

Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Is Frustrated With One Thing.

While the Thanksgiving victory over the Dolphins was a shining example of complimentary football, it was far from a clean game. Green Bay committed seven penalties for 44 yards, including several instances of a problem that has plagued the Packers all season.

For whatever reason, Green Bay’s defensive line struggles to line up onside.

The Packers have received the most defensive offsides calls in the league, with eight. The NFL average is 3.16 per club.

According to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, head coach Matt LaFleur is dissatisfied with the frequency with which his team is flagged for the same thing week after week.

“The one thing I believe we need to improve on is lining up onsides. “It feels like Groundhog Day,” LaFleur said following the game.

On Monday, he elaborated on his statement, stating, “No, it’s really annoying. You must be conscious. I guess we’ll have to practice it more. I need to get refs out there at practice to tell when a player is offsides. I told those guys, and clearly, simply telling isn’t enough. We need to start checking with the officials. It has become such a problem that it will kill us.

“It hurt us yesterday.” That is one aspect of the defensive game that we must immediately address. Shoot, it provided them a chance at the field goal. We got them to fourth-and-9, jumped offsides, they decided to go for it, and they converted. Fortunately, we limited them to three, but you cannot put yourself in those positions, especially against extremely talented football teams.”

The Packers will face a very talented football squad on Thursday, the 11-1 Detroit Lions. I hope they figure it out by then.
